Common questions

What do I need to run Mile Steward?

Requires iOS 26 on iPhone; Apple Watch app requires watchOS 26. iPhone only.

Mile Steward doesn’t run on iPad or Mac. The Watch app is a companion to the iPhone app, not a standalone tracker.

A drive is missing. What can I do?

Most missed drives come from a permission that changed. Very short drives, a phone that was switched off, or Low Power Mode can also get in the way.

  1. Check that Location is set to Always with Precise on, and that Motion & Fitness is allowed. iPhone Settings › Mile Steward › Location
  2. If the drive was in the last 7 days, open Review. Mile Steward may suggest it from iPhone’s motion history. Recovery can’t find every drive. Review › Possible missed drives
  3. Otherwise, add it by hand with the date, the places and the miles. Drives › + › Add a past drive
I’m getting a new iPhone. How do I keep my records?

There’s no Mile Steward account, so your records move with a backup rather than a sign-in. A regular iPhone transfer or iCloud backup of the whole phone also carries them across.

  1. On the old phone, export a backup file. It’s one file, saved to iCloud Drive or another place you choose. Settings › Backup › Export backup file
  2. On the new phone, install Mile Steward, then restore from that file. Settings › Backup › Restore from backup
  3. If you have Pro, tap Restore purchases with the same Apple ID. Settings › Mile Steward Pro › Restore purchases
How do I delete my data?

Delete all data removes every drive, place, vehicle and invoice from this iPhone. It can’t be undone. You may need your mileage log later, so export it first.

Backup files you saved yourself, for example in iCloud Drive, aren’t touched; delete them in Files. We don’t hold a copy of your records. If you asked us to email you at launch, write to us and we’ll remove your address.

Reports › Export Settings › Privacy › Delete all data

How do subscriptions, cancelling and refunds work?

Pro is sold through the App Store, so Apple handles billing. Yearly renews until you cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date. Lifetime is a single purchase with no renewal. Apple handles refund requests; we can’t issue them ourselves.

If Pro ends, everything you recorded stays on your iPhone.

Will Mile Steward drain my battery?

Between drives, Mile Steward rests and lets iPhone’s motion sensors wake it when you start moving. GPS runs only while you’re driving, so use depends on how much you drive. For the exact figure on your phone, look for Mile Steward in iPhone Settings › Battery.

If you’d rather record only while you’re in your car, a Shortcuts automation can start recording when your iPhone connects to CarPlay or your car’s Bluetooth.

Settings › Tracking and battery

How accurate are the miles?

Recorded drives measure distance from GPS points along the way. Recovered drives use the Apple Maps route between the places you confirm, and stay marked Recovered. Compare against your odometer at the start and end of the year with a photo.

You can edit any drive’s miles, and an edited value is marked as edited in the log. You’re responsible for your own log, and Mile Steward doesn’t give tax advice.
